I have a server here running SSR2 x64 and we want to use it for implementing DFS. My question is, does the other server we are going to pair it with for DFS have to be a x64 system or can we use a x32 Windows Standard Edition? Does it matter?

| STOP MAKING 32bit VISTA | 28 Mar 2007 01:20 GMT | 23 |
I'm really getting sick and tired of software makers ignoring x64 coding. Why should they make them? They have no reason at all to. As long as Microsoft keeps putting out Vista x86, which supports cheap machines, there is no reason for them to venture into x64 computing. Makes ...

I note on the following page, that XP x64 is in the compatibility list, but there is no mention of any Vista x64 version. I assume that it is not compatible (because it displays a message saying so). Can someone confirm officially that it is not compatible with Vista 84 bit

| How does one go about mirroring (RAID-1) the OS partition without third-party hardware/software? | 26 Mar 2007 19:47 GMT | 21 |
I'm running XP x64 on an ASUS A8N-E motherboard. I'd like to RAID a pair of small-ish 80GB IDE drives on which I'd run the OS. I have a bunch of larger SATA and IDE drives (of various sizes) for my own data; these don't need to be RAIDed.

| How to enable write-back disk cache? | 24 Mar 2007 00:25 GMT | 5 |
I'm using XP64 Workstation with 4GB memory installed, and I'm disappointed that its write performance is so poor with large writes. I'm used to testing on Windows Server 2003, where it will happily cache GBs of dirty data and write to disk when it gets a chance. I've tried ...
