My mother-in-law accidently deleted some files and her
Thinkpad would not bootup.  I transfered the sys files
from the emergency boot disk and the Thinkpad now boots
to the c: prompt.  I cannot re-install 95 because the

   How to operate in 'kernel' mode in Windows 95/98. I need to have direct
hardware access. Should I suspect that I need to be familiar with assembly
language?

I have a Micron Computer that came with Windows 95
installed.  I am trying to reinstall because I keep getting
the "illegal operation" message and the system freezes.
Trying to reinstall from the orginal CD, I am being told

I have three computers, a XP, a 95, and a 98. File/Print Sharing it working
normally except that the win 95 can not see the XP. Also, while running an
apache server on the XP, the 98 is unable to access it. Currently, i am
having problems with the 98 computer, so i cant test ...

Can anyone advise please the meaning of .QIC - the file
extention which is given to backup files ? I presume these
files are compressed - is that why it is not possible to
open them directly as backup files ? Leaves me wondering
