I have an old (in computer years) Compaq Presario that we'd like to give
a friend who just wants something she can get online with, surf and get
her email.
Since it's been so long since I've worked on PC's (I'm now a MAC head)

I am trying to sign on to e-bay, and it tells me that it

I finally got my four computer network up and running. I
have two running WinXP and two running Win95. The two
running Win95 have a Network sign on screen on boot up. Is
there a way to make that sign on screen disappear?

Is there a way to download Win98 or some sort of program
to upgrade my 95 to 98.  I have no CD's whatsoever.  Can I
download from microsoft.com or some other link?

hi. i have an old computer. it had windows 3.1 installed.
i fdisk and formatted the hard drive. i have windows 95
on floppies. at the A prompt i type "setup" without
quotes. i get an error "this program cannot be run in dos

I also get the insert system disk on 95. I downloaded the
bootdisk from bootdisk.com. So i stick it in, it says
starting windows 95 then it goes into dos. Somewhere in
all this it put my cd rom to drive letter r.

Cab files are corrupt too. How can I do a Win95 reinstall
on an older PC? Or is it ready for the junk yard? Did a
total system restore to no avail. It's an IBM Aptiva E26.
Of course, IBM can't help.

what is the easiest way to erase Windows95 so that I can
do an install of 98 full version. I don't want to do a
total clean install. Do I format?

ive just installed a cd writer on my pc,and have set up a
limewire service but when downloading a message appeared,i

A friend of mine is running windows 95 on a computer he
bourghjt second hand,  He has been unable to use recently
because his computer just displays the message "Replace
boot disc".

Whenever I boot up win95 machine a spool32 error message pops up
saying this program has performed illegal operation and will shut
down, etc etc..  I have renamed the config.sys and autoexe files as
mentioned in the microsoft website, any other tips I can try to get
