computer loads up to this point but will not go on beyond it, i hit enter and wait, but nothing, i can get into the BIOS setup and play around in there, is there anyway to disable this file, through this bios/setup screen?

I have an old Compaq 266 with 6.? HD and had to get the HD changed and the smallest Comp USA had was a 20 GB and they installed it. Now if I have to use the restore CD what problems will I have since it probable won't recognise the change? Not ready to do it now but may have to ...
