I have a Compaq Presario preloaded with Win95b and also have I.E..&OE 5.5. I
had some problems and had to reinstall Windows. I then transferred all
the data from WinOld to WinNew. However, I am NOT happy with the performance

I have a Windows XP computer and 2 windows 95 computers.  I used to have dial
up internet connection and networked my xp computer with one of my W 95
computers with an Ethernet wire and all worked well.  I bought and installed
a NETGEAR FA311 network card on the Windows 95 ...

What purpose is the CHK File:

Can they be removed to free up some HD on old Win95 puter ?

Does anyone know why Office XP software will not operate on a PC purchased
in 1995? The machine runs the Windows 95 operating system,  is a 486 system
with 8 MB of memory.

Sometimes I get this error when Windows is starting and I have to reboot, then Windows
will start properly. At least so far it has started on the second try.
Does anyone else get this error? What is wrong and how can I fix it?

I've noticed that, while Windows has its own built-in PPP dialer, many
ISPs insist on paying artists and programmers to make their own highly
graphical, PPP dialers. Some of these dialers do little more than munge
the username/password combination and then pass it on to the built-in
