I took a boot hard disk from a win98 installation and
added it as a secondary drive on an XP system (the file
system has not been changed from fat16) the reason for

I read on the web that you can get 5VDC from the cable that supplies
power to drives (i.e. hard drive). I connected a wire to a free power
connector and did get the 5VDC. Then all of a sudden the computer turned

My daughter's computer is a Win 98 SE, IBM PC 300 GL.
She reinstalled the operating system from the Microsoft CD.
This problem has been around prior to the reinstall -- the
reinstall did not help it.
