When I try to defrag; the program stops at 2% complete, then starts over. I have run my anti-virus scan, disk clean-up & scandisk. I've disabled the anit-virus & pop- up stopper. Still no luck. Any suggestions, please?

Sir.. while working on my computer the hard disk is going to sleping mode. the power light will change and monitor will automatically switch off. it quite happens in short while.

Following a virus attack on my Gateway Solo 9100 I reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled W98. Unfortunately, the 3Gb hard drive only shows a C drive of 1.43Gb. FDISK partition information shows:

98 running fine one day, shut down ok. Restart looking for bootable disk. Cannot make c: bootable. "invalid function". Says no partition, but cant fdisk. Says "no fixed disks present". I CAN scandisk c: without incedent.

About 2 days ago... I was trying to defrag my second computer and going through the normal defragging system under windows 98 SE wouldn't want to work right. It would stall out or not run at all even if I tried defraggin in safe mode and had everything shut down...

Some kind person made this suggestion: When you installed Windows originally you should have made a "startup disk." Use that. But there is no such start up disk. Win98 was installed

I have a win 98 full install disk and the $20 se update disk that I purchsed years ago. Is there any way to "slipstream" the update into the full install disk so only one disk would be needed to install 98se on a formated HD?
