Completed FDISK of a 6G drive as FAT32 with one active partition. Rebooted. Ran FORMAT C:, but get "Trying to recover allocation unit x" where x is some large number (110,000 - 113,000) that increments slowly. Let it run

ok, I recently attempted to format my hard drive. When it was time to run FDISK, I noticed that I had option "5" in the menu which allows you to change the logical drive you are going to do all the partition stuff on.

I compressed my floppies using DriveSpace 3 (new space is 2.56 meg). When I try to write an uncompressed file (size about 1.9 meg) from my C drive to that floppy I get an error telling me there isn't enough space on the floppy to

i'm a rookie, why can't i transfer data files from a 3.5 diskette to my cd rom drive using windows explorer? it says drive is inaccessible?

I don;t have a boot file disk my computer is saying boot file failure while booting. It just happended this morning when I turned it on. Can someone tell me how I get a bootfile disk on the net

I have a Vaio 505 with windows 98. Have never run defragmentation until 2 days ago. It cycled from 0% to 1% and back. I let it run for over 12 hours. I ran ScanDisk and it seemed to complete successfully. I ran Defrag again

Since upgrading to a cable modem, I can no longer run scan disk or disk defrag. System thinks there is an application running in the back ground. How do I get around this?

When I try to run Norton (NDD) or defrag disk I get a message,(Links contains illegal long file name entries on drive C) any idea what this means. THANKS for any help.
