Having problem finding cdrw in my compaq 7478 w/windows98.
It is not a new drive , just one day it was not there and

I fried my motherboard, when the replacement one, whcih is
about the same as the old one, arrives, will I be able to
attach my hard disk without reinstalling everything?

I get a deep whinning sound from the hard disk
occasionally it starts for around a few minutes and then
stops, can u advise what this could be?

I've raised this before, without eliciting the response I was anticipating,
so perhaps this is not the most approptiate NG. Please someone advise if
there is some other good source.

C:\PQSC\CPS\000084\FILES\001\07F7EA.DAT is infected with

I have Win 98 SE with three identical Samsung 248B drives.
All 3 get recognizes upon boot up by the system.
But only 2 show up in Device Manager and I can only burn

Windows ME cannto install due to disk data errors. Scan
disk says it has found uncorrectable crc/ecc errors and
cannot continue. Is this indicative of a bad hard drive?

My Win98 operating system has failed. The first thing to
appear on the screen is a Rndll32 error message. It can't
locate the mouse drivers or the login passwords. The
screen also looks terrible which makes me think it's not
