   something is very strange on my computer. my hard disk
9.52 gb. my free space indicates 1.16 gb.i don't have 8 gb
in progams and i don't save internet files. where can i
look or maybe i have a virus that atacks my memorry.

    I stupidly checked the USE DMA box in the GENERIC IDE
TYPE 47 hard disk drive controller device listed in device
manager in Win98SE. Now I cannot uncheck the box as it

My hard drive is basically dead, makes a lot of clunking
noise, won't boot, get I/O error.
The obvious is that I need to replace it, but I was
wondering what the chances are of recovering any data?

when I close down all windows and go to run disk
defragmenter it looks like it working but it never moves
off 0%  I look at the details and nothing shows up?
I hear the hard drive,(like its working) but its not.

I'm trying to come to grips with the way Windows stores
files on disk. I know about cluster sizes etc but I'm
unable to relate what I see when I right-click on a disk
icon, and note the 'Used Space' reading under Properties

i save too much information on a single disk.  i must have
overloaded it.  Is there any way to get the information
off this disk?  It wont load.

Lots of files with jiberish for file and folder names.
