I bought 98 a couple of months ago for my brothers
computer now I bought a laptop for my wife for
christmas.  It is 3 years old and has no operateing
system so I want 98 on it but it doesnt have a cd so I

I have a 30GB internal drive that I am trying to
partition using Partition Magic (PM). The operating
system is Windows 98, Second Edition. Once the PM goes to
the DOS portion of the program where it needs to write to

How should I go about installing windows 2000 on my second
hard drive. My master hard drive is win98se and I would
like to have a duel boot on my computer. Any help is

Thanks to your help I can now start degraging drive C.
However is still gets so fat eg 10% then goes back to zero
and statrs again. It does this on it's own. Eventually
after many times I got it up to 85%. Why does it not do it

I recently experienced two corrupted installations of Win98SE
(Scandisk reported different FAT's) on my multi boot system (also
Win2K and WinXP on 45 GB IBM drive) later another HD (60 GB Maxtor)
got corrupted too so my suspicions shifted from the first HD to the

Recently when doing a disk defrag it takes ages. Also when
I clicked on show details I could watch the progress. The
box appears as usual but nothing is seen in the frame and
I can only assume it is doing a defrag because the red

On startup, I've been getting the error message:
"One or more of your disk drives may have developed bad
sectors. Press any key to run ScanDisk with surface
analysis on these drives." I've run scandisk as suggested

I tried to backup my system, but got" Insert 98 se cd."
and couldn't find it. so i went in and kept pushing skip
to see what else it told me here is the list:

The problem I have is one machine is constantly seeking
the floppy disk drive whenever you connect to the internet
or shutdown the machine. I remember finding this on MS
knowledge base before but can't remember how or where I

I recently bought a Maxtor external hard drive with 80gb
of space. Now, when i get to about 35gb on the maxtor i
get a message saying the disk is full. I tried to use the
windows help stuff and thought i might need to convert to

I am trying to install windows onto a fresh hard drive and
booting from a windows 98 boot disk with cd-rom support.  
It detects the cdrom no problems.  But when I go to access
the cd-drive I get 'cdr101 ready device not ready' error.

i need to replace my hard drive.  I have several other

My computer appears to be frozen. It will not respond to
anyhting. I have turned it off and then back on again but
it just freezes agin. Does anyone know what causes this
and what I can do?
