After upgrading my laptop to 512 MBytes, I got the message:

I have an IBM laptop that came with Windows 98.  Most of
my new programs like XP.  The original hard drive was
partitioned into C with 2 gigs and D with 6 gigs.  XP
upgrade wouldn't install as the error kept tellimg me

D:\is not accessible.

Just got a new 60gig HD and am going to do a new install
of windows 98se, just wondered what, if anything I will be
able to access on my old 10gig HD if I make the new one
master and old one slave?

I just found out that I need to get a windows 98 cd-rom
disk. And I never got one when I purchased my computer
in 2001.
What should I do since I no longer have warrenty?

I got a huge problem that I can't fix. I insert a normal
cd-R and it wont read it. It says that it is unasesable
and is not ready. My computer freezes and goes to a blue
error screen. I take out the cd and I gain back control.

or something at startup. What does this control and how
can I fix it?

I can run music cd's in my d: drive but I am no longer
able to run any games in this drive. It sounds like
something is grinding and the disk stops and nothing
happens. I see nothing in there and the music disks play

windows 98 hung in safe mode, won't  open files . message: missing device file need for systems ini files. I've tried it all, nothing works. need help! thanks

i lose access to my cdrom when i install a second hard
drive. everything shows up except the cdrom. I can access
the cdrom in non microsoft programs. the cd shows up in
device manger but windows explorer does not see it.

i am missing file labeled mscoree.dll. how do i get it
installed on my computer?

Hard drive failed, put in a new one, but couldnt detect cd-
rom drive or zip drive.  Finally did installation of new
drive by using MAX BLAST 3.5in floppy.
SO now when iboot up, that screen just before the windows

After formatting a floppy, is there a way to retrieve the
data?

Are there any issues in running defragmentation in Safe
Mode?  This seems like any easy way of avoiding resident
programs that can cause the defrag to restart.

I am trying to defrag my grandpa's computer, and when I use
the defrag tool, it never gets off of 0%, even after
leaving it on overnight.  I might be missing a part of the
defrag tool, is there some place I can download it?
