why does my computer say I cannot use my WIN 98 discs when
I want to down load drivers etc from the disc

This system cannot read from specified device.

floppy disk(s) fail (40)  is the message when i boot up
will not let me go any further then that.  I also have a
password to get to bios and don't know the password.
