I recently install an additional disk for linux.  After
installing Linux my win 98 OS has start up error. VFAT
error.  I think my boot sector is corropt.  how do I
check this

I started up my PC this morning, and it wouldn't boot w2k. It looks like a
corrupted MBR but perhaps the harddisk (there's only one) is going bad, too.
The disk is 40gb and has 3 primary partitions each with w2k and one extended
partition (sandwiched between 2nd and 3rd primaries) ...

number.  I just tried to install a printer and I got
the "notification" to install disc 2 of windows 98 set up

My computer is set up to defragment once a week, but all I
ever get is a 0% complete, even if I manually try to

I have a 4G hard drive that, one morning, decided that it was empty. It
was discovered by attempting to boot from it, and getting an "Invalid
System Disk" error (and yes, I did check there was no flopp in the
