I need help!  When booting my computer I get
an "operating system not found" error.  Then I used my
boot disk and an error message, "does not contain a valid
FAT or FAT32 partition" displays.  Also, "diagnostic tool
Scandisk and Defragmenter Processes are not complete03 Apr 2004 00:36 GMT2
Can not get Scandisk nor Defragmenter programs to complete
they both quit after on 1 to 10% completed

I'm running a laptop with only 1.34 gig hard drive and seem to always be
running out of disk space. I have deleted all the programs I don't need,
clean out the internet.temp file almost daily, and have run  "disk cleanup".
Finally got down to where I had about 350MB of free space. ...

Does w98 limit the size of either the drive or partitions?
If so, what sizes?

I lost the pin number to my windows 98 upgrade disk.
Now I can't re-install it. What do I do. HELP!

I have some questions about messing up a partiton which may have something
to do with disk geometry and Win98.
Using my PC (Duron-based) I copied 5 GB of data to a FAT32 partition on a
20GB PATA hard drive.
Ran out of space on Drive C01 Apr 2004 23:20 GMT1
I run Windows 98 on an IBM Thinkpad 390E and have only 50
Mb free space left on Drive C.  Because of this I cannot
even do a Windows Security Update.
Drive D has ample free space, 3500 Mb.

When I run a standard ScanDisk I get the error message
that it found errors and cannot repair and to run a
thorough ScanDisk.  So I run the thorough check and it
tells me to run the standard etc. etc.  I can't defrag

Is the best way to defrag a computer w/ w98 in windows, in safe mode or from
the Command prompt (is this even possible)?
