I have windows 98 first edition on a 1999 e-machine. I
need to upgrade to second edition to use wireless
internet service. I contacted e-machine with no luck and
I also contacted microsoft and was informed that mailings

restarted 10 times. Other programs should be shut down so
scan/defrag can complete."  I am not running any other

Hard drive activity light on case stays lit all the time.
In safe mode it goes out. I shut down all programs

I recently had a new hard drive installed on my computer,
but nothing was saved in the process.  I reinstalled all
my CDs that came with the computer when I purchased it,
however I am having trouble getting into Microsoft Word.

Any hot tips on recouping hard disk space?? I've taken off all programs I
don't need, run disk cleanup, deleted all the internet temp files, run
AdAware and deleted all the spyware and regained about 200 MB.  Then almost
overnight they all disappeared and I only have about 150MB to ...

With Win98 CD installed, get option for booting.
Select "Boot from hard drive"
Message on screen is "NLDR missing". Any clues as to what
that means. Hard drive is accessable from DOS when booting

(XP). I have a USB removable disk but (alas) Win98
couldn't find the driver for it.  No internet access
there either.  Best Buy/Circuit city doesn't carry
