I own a hp pavilion 8562. all of a sudden I can not
access the floppy and cd-rom drives.  the device manager
shows the 2 cd-rom drives but not the floppy drive.

Help!  I have a rebuilt computer.  The hard drive is about
2 months old.  What does it mean when it makes noise?  It
goes for a little bit then stops then goes.  Also on
occasion I get a message saying system resources are low.  

I work @ a kids camp and we just got computers donated to
us but windows was compleatley wiped out on all of them,so
I tried to install windows 98 but it dosent read it,it
only says no opperating system found.

When I try to load windows, I get the error cannot find
win.com.
I also get these errors;

what is that file?
is taht a virus?
can i delete it?

any workarounds to increase max file size limit ?

I just installed a second hard drive, 80GB Seagate, and am
having trouble formatting the drive. My understanding is

I need to reinstall windows 95...it is telling me..missing
operating system...when I put in my 95 CD it doesn't boot
it. I don't have any other boot disk or floppies. How do I
get it to reinstall from my 95 CD???

Can't get these program to complete.  They both get about
1 to 10% completed and then quit, "Windows is writing to
disk."

when I start to use the utility for defrag it just won't
go with no errror message. What could this be?

I baught a 16mb flash drive, but I can't get Windows 98 to
install a driver so I can read it.  Does anyone have any
suggestions or answers.

I can't get Windows 98 to recognise my CD drive on my laptop although
I can access it if I boot into DOS. Windows wants to instal a second
IDE controller and finds the driver file MSHDC.INF. When I click on
Next the system freezes.

the set-up disk that came with my wife's hp pc has been
damaged. now i need to re-format her machine due to virus-
induced collapse of os. do i need to obtain a duplicate
set-up disk? (i still have the manual and product id). or

Does anyone know If I need to format and repartition prior to installing 98
over Lindows or does the normal installation take care of all that?

I understand when a file is deleted, the first character
gets changed so the system know the file's space is
available to be overwritten.  I moved a file off my hard
drive onto a network server.  The network server copy
