I've got this problem: Windows 98SE hangs and goes slow
after I delete large numbers of files.
Symptom:
60-second delay or more before you can use Windows

I have a hold hard drive that is partitioned and i want to
format and install win 98 on it.  It has win 95 right now
and the HARD DRIVE IS SPLIT into two equal drives.  How do
I get rid of the two to bring it back to one big one?

Laptop stopped booting to Windows98. It stopped booting
with a C: prompt and 0 (zero) directories were shown when
typing the dos dir command.
Booted to A drive with a start-up disk. Ran scandisk.

i have lost my productkey for windows 98 and i need to

My hard drive was erased or formatted. I have my windows

I know for a fact if you want to write sector by sector from the beginning
to end of an hard drive, it may be very fast.
Defrag is very slow indeed.

When doing a disk defrag, the process continues to restart due to a write occurring to the hard drive.  I do not know how to stop this problem.
