I was trying to use the CD on a IBM 300PL with 128 MB Ram,
a 663 Mhz processor, and 10Gig Hard drive. It has windows
98, and I can not find the CD ROM, the BIOS looks OK but
when I go to Device manager I receive an error when I

My husband was transferring large files from his laptop
to his PC which has an 80 gig hard drive.  When the copy
was complete, Explorer crashed and he froze.  When he
rebooted the PC, it came up to a black screen with a

I have an IBM laptop that I bought used, the hard drive has
2 designated drives c & d, I guess the hard drive is
partitioned?. I would like to reformat it so that the whole
drive is c. I can't install any software to the d part of

Is there a way to Defrag from the C prompt on Win 98? My
brother is having a problem with his puter. He cannot get
it to even operate in Safe Mode. It will only go into DOS
when you say "operate in Safe Mode" I'm in the East, he's

My computer has been running slow and I have been trying
to perform a defrag to speed up the most used
applications. When it get to about 12% in scanning, I get
a message 'detecting a change in the drive, restarting'.

i want to defrag my hard disk. when i run defrag it says
errors are on disk so run scandisk. when i try to run
scandisk it fails.  Errors and then the machine locks up.  
I guess I need another copy of scandisk.  Tried to go via

I have a 20GB disk (28,615.8MB) in NTFS format on a
Win 98 system, BUT windows will not assign it a drive letter.
PartitionMagic 8 shows the drive with the correct size, used, and
unused "active" "primary" but no drive letter.

Have been trying to defrag my C drive.  Status tells me
that Windows is checking for errors but the details screen
is completely blank and % completed remains 0.  Remained
that way all night.  I've run the disk clean up.  Any
