Ok, I love the stability and feel of windows 98.
I like the stability of 2000 and it's multimedia features

I have a Micron PC with Windows 98SE and need to boot to
the Recovery CD to restore factory settings.
Windows 98 was factory pre-installed and I don't have a
Windows 98 disk.

when i start up windows 98SE i get about 4 or 5 error
messages these say something along the lines of the file
in system.INI has been accidentally deleted that is
followed by a message saying press any key to continue

I want to know how I can clear the swap file when I
shutdown the computer. I know it can be done in xp/2000
and am sure it can be done in 98 I just don't remember how
to do it.

I'm no longer getting computer sounds (mail notification,
etc); checked the sound settings, everything seems to be

Wondering if anyone has run into a similar problem where
after the windows startup completes no icons are appearing
on my desktop. This has happened since I tried to install
Adobe Premiere 6.0 on my system. The background appears

Is there any way to recover permamently deleted files? In
Windows XP there is the System Restore feature that
snapshots the whole system and contents- anything similar
in Win98?

Hey all, Here's my problem. I just re-installed the new
drivers for my graphics card, and decided to change my
monitor from generic to the correct model. The modekl of
my monitor was not on the list so i tried to be smart and

reinstall dailup networking.  well i have a copy of win. xp
my question is- do i just put the installation (xp disk)
