I'm trying to install a PNP scanner.  OS is Windows 98SE.
Device manager shows "unknown device". Yellow circle with
exclamation point.  Details show "device not presentl, not
working properly, or does not have all drivers

In win 98, had to reload windows after trying to upgrade
UMAX scanner driver from 2.38 to 3.55. Now win 98, which
MS KB says should detect my UMAX Astra 1200s, won't. The
3.55 driver updates said to disconnect scanner from

Got stung by a website "n-case" that quickly downloaded
programs for ads, IE search bar and porno. When I find the
programs and try to delete them, some I can, others
usually .exe & .dll files are Access Denied. What do I

Can somebody help?? I can not get most USB devices to work

Trying to troubleshoot a startup problem, but the mouse isn't working. I
can't figure out how to uncheck boxes in msconfig startup with the keyboard.

Over the past 4 to 6 weeks, my PC began freezing up when
it was sitting idle which required me to re-boot the PC.
Last week I downloaded all the windows 98 downloads
available on microsoft's website.

O/S is Windows98SE.
When trying to start a friend's computer we got the following message
"MSGSRV32  caused a GPF in KRNL386E" and a list of registers.
Have looked at many web pages but not found any reference to this message

I was booting up my PC this morning when I encountered the
following error message:
'Windows has detected a registry/configuration

Is there any way to change the order that the desktop items appear in
the Deskmenu listing?  I think they appear in the order they were
placed on the desktop, but I might like to see them in alphabetic
order.

loading at verif DMI.... and goes no further Please help

Upon startup I get this error message:  "Error Loading
C:/PROGR~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2.dll"  Any ideas how to
repair?

I'm noticing an unusual amount of postings with the subject Re: (with the
original subject). I find it somewhat frustrating in that you develop an
interest in the subject but can't read the background because it was posted
someplace else.
