When I start my computer, I get the message
Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run
Windows or a Windows application.
The Windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this

Before I installed DirectX I was able to have a 800x600
resolution, but after I installed and rebooted the computer
the display is only able to have either 2 or 16 colors, and
600x400 resolution. What happened and how can I fix it?

clean install only windows on C: drive NO programs added and when
shutting down or even going into DOS puter goes to "A:" drive.
Config.sys has nothing in it and Autoexec.bat only has this "SET

Whenever I try to use windows update, I get an error (0x800A138F). Can
anyone help me fix this, it just started in the last couple of weeks. It
worked fine before. I am using Windows 98se.

I'm in the UK and have a pc that is about 5 years old now.
It is on o/s win98 without a cdrw drive. I am looking at
upgrading to add an external cdrw/dvd rom but need one
that supports this platform - any help?

I recieved a email attachment that is a HPD file. I can
save it to my Folders and A-drive, but I am unable to open
it. Among the type of files I can open are (HTML TEXT GIF
JPEG PNG ART AU AIFF XBM), But HPD is not listed. How do I

I no longer have any symbols in my dialogue boxes such as

When I try to install a new program, I receive this
message: "The temp folder is on a drive that is full or is
inaccessible. Free up space on the drive or verify that
you have write permission on the temp folder."

When I shut down my computer, I get a error
message: "WIN95 RPC Wmsg Window" Task is busy, wait, end
task, etc.  Anyone have any ideas?  I've tried to search
for the file, but no luck.
