About half the time when I shut down, it hangs. I have to power off. When I power up, of course Scandisk takes place. It always says "free space count was fixed". What can I do to fix this?

How can a .jpg file's DPI be reduced once it's saved? Purpose: an image scanned at high resolution, but needing low dpi (like a letter) consumes too much space.
