Min, Max, and Close Buttons Corrupt29 Feb 2004 01:03 GMT1
My Minimize, Maximize, and Close buttons are now what
appear to be weird letters instead of the normal
underscore, overscore, and X.  The buttons still
function.  Anyone know who to restore the buttons.  All

I have windows 98.  It was doing good until I tried to
install a software.  Now when it starts I get this
message:
cannot find a device file tht may be needed to run

start up take a long time.  I get this:  Cannot find a
device file needed to run windows or a Windows application.
The windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this
device file, but the device file no longer exists.

I have lost my tool bar - where "File, Edit, View" etc
are.  How can I get it back?  In e-mailing I am used to
copying and pasteing instead of forwarding with all those
previous addresses, and without Edit, copy & paste, I

When I bypass the win.ini at boot up all applications load
normally. If i allow the win.ini to load at startup all my
applications give the error message. This program has
performed an illegal function and will be shut down.

when I try to start my computer Win89 second edition.  I
get the error message that shlwapl.dll can not be found
and windows does not finish loading.  I have not done
anything to the computer.  It wants me to re-load windows.

Below is my edited post to the viruses group under
security. My question is, if I have to format the drives
and reinstall W98, is there a legal way to get a duplicate
of the missing key? Or, if it is written to the registry,

Sounds like a stupid question.
Somehow the bottom tool bar with the start button, etc,
has moved to the right side og my screen..How did this
happen and how to I get it back to the default?

When i'm on some websites certain words are highlighted
and underlined.  I can put my mouse on them and it appears
there is a link to the word.  I have posted on this before
and had gotten rid of it.  I promise I will write this

The folders I created on my desktop are all just manila
folders. There is no option to change icon.
