I am trying to install DSL service on my sort-of old
computer. It has Windows 95 but 98 is required. I tried to
do an upgrade to Win98. The install wizard was seeming to

   A while back Outlook Express started slowing waaaayyyy down and finally
refusing to load. I learned that there is apparently some kind of limit as
to how much email I can have stored here on my computer, I deleted a bunch
and the problem was solved. But now it has slowed waaayyy ...

I have a laptop hp omnibook w98se running on a w2k domain.   It locks up on
bootup anywhere from 3-10 times, but eventually will boot and runs OK
thereafter.   It usually reboots OK.  Sometimes it doesnt recognize the

I was unable to defrag my system in normal mode so i did
it in safe mode.  Now i cannot get the system out of safe
mode.  I tried using F8 in the start up process and to
choose Normal, however, it still appears to be in safe

Is it possible to set the "My Documents" folder so that when a new file is
saved into that folder, it will appear "arranged by name", i.e. in
alphabetical order?
As it is now, the new file appears last in the list, and I have to click

using windows explorer as a web page I can preview my .bmp
files but it won't display .jpg files the same way. any
clues why?

My cousin is running Win98SE, using IE 5.0 0r 5.50, not
sure which one. He has dialup and connects fine. Whenever

I have WIN98se on a Dell Dimension pII 700MHz.  When I try to play a
video (avi, mpg, etc) WMP will open but not play anything.  The only
way the program will close is by using contrl-alt-del then "end task".
That's when crash occurs.  Same applies to PowerDVD.  

When I try to open Internet Explorer it does not open.  I
think it does run but it does not open.  When I do ctrl
alt delete Explorer is listed and that is why I think it

You helped me solve the poblem. I reinstalled the
character map using add/remove programs. It showed that it
was currently installed but it wouldn't show up. I put a
short cut on my desktop and everthing works fine. Thanks
