My husband was trying to clean up his computer and put
the system.ini in the trashcan.  Now Win98 will not
start.  I can get the computer to c: but I don't know
where to find the system.ini file or where to put it when

I deleted some programs and apparently this thing went
with them.  Now I can't get to my desktop without this
message popping up.  A required .DLL file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSVCRT.DLL was not found.  

I wonder if I can get help from one of you kind readers here. I just installed Win 98 SE and a new HD in a friends Toshiba Protégé 7020TC. Everything worked swell, except the windows desktop is very small. I can't change the resolution. I don't think my friend has any of the old ...

It comes up as a running process but the file has no properties with which
to ID it. Do I get rid of it??

I'm trying to get rid of the tray icon for SB Audio PCI 128D Mixer. In
msconfig it's called EnsoniqMixer and runs "starter.exe".  It shows under
the run key in the registry. If I uncheck it in msconfig and go back to
the registry without rebooting, it has moved to the run- key ...

I am having an user login issue with Win98 and I cannot
locate my password disk.  Is there any way around this
scenario?  If not, I guess I will begin my percussive

extremly infected with the W32.Beagel.J virus (87
files).  Finally got Noroton to update and ran a full
scan, this did fix or delete all infected files.  The

When booting windows 98, I get the following error message
(when loading the desktop):

When I start Windows the taskbar briefly flickers and
then disappears.  I can't do anything once Windows
starts, becuase there is no taskbar, right-clicking on
the desktop does not work, and the Windows key, Ctrl-Esc,

When I click on the Windows Start button the button
depresses, but nothing happens.
I have used SFC to restore the USER32.DLL and rebooted,
no change.

I have multiple users set-up each with their own desktops.
All were fully functional for quite some time. Lately
