My Problem:
The display adapter driver on my friends W98 machine is gone, as is the
install disk.  Its running in VGA mode which is pretty hard to view.

I am operating on a Windows 98 system.  I normally use my
Alt keys to get around an application (ex. Alt+F+X to
exit).  Recently, the Alt keys no longer select the menu
and nothing happens when I use these commands.  Do I need

version of free serves that is obsoletes.

An area about 2.5 cm at the top of my desktop shows extra lines -- white,
gray, a few black -- just after starting. The area, which stretches across
the screen, reduces to about 4mm after ten minutes or so. If I shut the

I had to rebuild after a crash and now I get no sound
All the drivers keep saying "file not found" and will not install.

When I click start and slide the cursor over the option
for "Shut Down..." the system performs and illegal
operation and freezes. However, I can click start and then
move the cursor around the "Shut down..." option and then
