The following problem has occured three times. I turn on
computer from a cold start. I can watch the boot process,
BIOS portion. When it starts to list EIDE devices
installed (I have two hard drives on the Primary

I have deleted the .swp file in windows but to no effect.
(NO effect) any ideas?

All of a sudden my tool bar slides up under the current
page in IE instead of on top. I have the tool bar set
to "auto hide". I had installed Tray Saver and then un-
installed thinking this may have been the problem but it

I am trying to reformat the hard drive and reload my
Win98. I put in the startup disk and boot up but windows
just loads as normal.I have ticked the ' search for floppy
disk' box in settings. The floppy drive seems to work OK

I'M GETTING A "GENERAL PROTECTION ERROR" AT START UP.  I RESTART AND IT GOES TO SAFE MODE, THEN ANOTHER RESTART & EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE UNTIL I NEED TO REBOOT AGAIN. SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG, BUT WHAT?  ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Whenever I open a new document on Microssoft Word, a
message comes up saying that I have performed "an illegal
operation."  How can I stop this from happening?

I continue to get notices that I need to install Critical
Update 823559.  I have downloaded and had that update
successfully installed many times.  The installation
history shows:

when I shut down right after using IE6, it gives me

I've tried to use CD in my D drive (instead of a floppy)
for my Quicken backup as well as for downloads of drivers
and programs from various sites.  Whenever I try this I
get a message indicating that I don't have access to the

During startup, I get a message that the system cannot find
the file C:\windows\system\bridge.dll .    
Why does this happen?  
I looked and found the file where it is supposed to be in
