Every once in a while I get a file named ~ on my desktop.
It isn't in a recognizable format (I usually just delete
them) but when I opened the last one using microsoft word
recover text from any document it had all my email

My home PC (Win98) boots to the safe mode screen and after
the time-out tries to enter safe mode. It hangs at the C:\

I was attempting to help a friend remove 38 trojans and malware

This has only just started to happen (win98se) and when i
close the folder it opens again a few seconds later. The
start-up folder is empty. msinfo & msconfig show nothing
