Every once in a while I get a file named ~ on my desktop.
It isn't in a recognizable format (I usually just delete
them) but when I opened the last one using microsoft word
recover text from any document it had all my email

I haven't used windows 98 in a long while.  A friend of
mine called me this morning and after booting his PC
received a fatal exception message: OB 04970000138b.  I
have searched the knowledge base and have not found any

i've tried to install some programs on a new hard drive

Recycle bin on desk top now displayes as a folder. How can
I restore it's regular apearence?

Has anyone experienced this problem and if so can you let
me know if you have a solution?

My home PC (Win98) boots to the safe mode screen and after
the time-out tries to enter safe mode. It hangs at the C:\
prompt, and reboots repeating the cycle.

This has only just started to happen (win98se) and when i
close the folder it opens again a few seconds later. The
start-up folder is empty. msinfo & msconfig show nothing
to do with start-up, any suggestions appreciated.

How can I download update for window 98 that is on dial up
from windows nt with a broadband connection?

i recently tried to reboot my computer and didnt know i
needed my windows 98 disk. i cant find it and now i need
the number of authenticity or my computer wont start. is

I think I sent this correctly about 1/2 hour ago re my
server does not support the download I received.  My tech
support said I needed Microsoft Office Excel to open the
file, which my computer does not have.  Tech support sent

I have been receiving "missing shortcut" messages upon
boot up of computer.  All the files (there are several)
always point to the same file when the system looks for
it. What can I do to keep this from happening?
