Upgrade from 98 to 98SE27 Apr 2004 16:29 GMT1
I have XP on a PC, but want to retain 98 on a laptop for
awhile longer. Several drivers seem to be available for
98SE, but not 98. How can I upgrade just from 98 to 98SE
to avail myself of these drivers?

I am missing a .dll file.  how do i restore it?  I have
done it before using the Windows 98 CD, but i cannot
remember how to do it.  Heres the full error message:

When Win98SE boots, it locks up during Windows Start tune.
Sound becomes static (loops due to lockup).
Onboard Sound was disabled (jumper & bios). Couldn't get rid of sound driver
exclamation mark so installed Typhoon Acoustic 4 Soundcard 3D.

I have about forty items on my desktop that I like to have
in certain positions different from any of the default
ones.  When I have to re-boot, I lose this configuration
and have to move each icon individually back to the

How do I password protect a folder that is on a shared
drive? The computers run on Win 98 but the network
platform is OpenVMS. I'm not sure if that makes any

I am trying to help my sister with a problem.  Every time
that her 98se machine is started, ScanDisk is activated.  
Then it comes up with the message "Windows is updating
system files, please wait".

I've been having difficulties defraging my drive.  I close
all running apps, then run the defrag program but it
doesn't progress.  It says that it is checking the drive
for errors, but the progress stays at 0% for hours.  It
