About a month ago I noticed that Scandisk on my Win 98 SE System no
longer automatically runs on boot-up after a forced/"improper"
shutdown.  While this seemed like a welcome change at first, it
bothers me that this functionality can go away for no apparent reason.

My brother-in-law in Georgia called me and we have been trying to deal

my primary hard drive, my D drive was my CDROM and my
auxiliary hard drive (where I did all my backup) was my E
drive.

When running Scandisk, I noticed that first the "system"
area of the hard drive is scanned  then the "data" area.
Where, exactly, is the "system" area on a hard drive
located and where, exactly, is the "data" area located?

Although my speaker volume is up high and my play control is at max my
speaker volume is very low and it's humming because I've got it so high to
