I recently got a secondhand computer from an office, and i tweaked it to my
liking, so now it runs fine.
One little thing that bugs me is, since I got this junk heap, the "File"

I have a computer that has no info according to system

I was looking at the system information tool and on the right side it

Here's what's happened to the wife's puter as far as I can recreate and have checked/tried so far.
1. At boot up memory test is run and says OK, next loads CD, Zip,etc. then " memory test fail". F1 to continue.
After this it looks like it's starting to load then if it goes to safe ...

I can't access Explorer through My Computer or Windows
Explorer.  I get the "illegal operation" message when I
try.  There's a further message which states that IE is
causing the problem.  I have managed to reinstall IE from

I am fairly new to doing computer work and have been
trying to do a project. I am trying to get a map much like
you see on Weather.com in a Word file or excell file then
be able to put drop down menues or comments on top of the

My time setting is 20 minutes slow. This does not increase
or decrease. When I go into change Time Date, I change the
time to the correct time press okay and it returns to the
time that is 20 minutes slow.

Ok.
Last night, powered up a Win98 machine that has been
inactive for about a year.  Hooked monitor thru a switch
