No problem existant here at present, but wanted to query
the Community knowledge trust on the " Critical Update
Notification " download that is available from MS.
Checking recently for possible new critical updates, I did

why does my computer come up with "cmos checksum error - default loaded",
then i have to press F1 before window continues loading.  After loading, the
date gets set back to jan 1, 1997.

I originally purchased my computer with Windows 98 on it,
then updated it with what I thought was Windows 98 Second
Edition updates (bought the disk from Microsoft and have
it in front of me now - so do I now have "second edition"

I am trying to find out how to upgrade my Windows 98.  I

My view area of documents has suddenly shrunk to about 5"
X 2 1/2".  This happens when I try to view stored

When I type something, the letters hesitate for a couple
seconds, then type in fast, sometimes doing thisssssssss.
The sound does the same thing, like stuttering.

I have win98 with cable (wow) access.  1 of 2 computers on this connection has a virus where access to the internet is periodically interupted.  Cable company says everything is fine on their end and 2nd ...
