Approximately how often should I reinstall my operating
system? Tech support at a company I purchased some
hardware from said that every year I should reinstall the
operating system and the software, any truth to this?

when i first put the install disk in i get a message that
says i do not have enough availble memory.
i have windows 98 with a 20 geg hard drive and 64mb ram,
wiht very little of my available disk space used

I'm running Win98se on an E Machine and the emachine splash screen that appears before the
Windows startup screen stays on for a very long time. I haven't timed it but it's got to
be close to a minute. Where can I find the file that controls the length of time the

I have a machine that every time you boot it you get the message
"Windows is updating files etc.." when in fact its doing nothing of

     I just found a list of all the programs that are running
whenever I am using win98se.
    I knew what most of them are, but these 5 stumped me.
All 5 are found in my win98se\system subdirectory, and all  start up
