when using IE, every time I open .PDF file with Adobe 6.0,
I get "IE has encountered a problem & needs to close..."

problems shutting down my computer. I followed your
suggestions and indeed there were several files/programs
that I needed to "End Task" on in order to shutdown

I run Windows 98 Second edition. I am currently visiting a
relative in another state who uses Windows XP. I'm not
sure about this but I think Windows 98SE and Windows XP
have somewhat different Notepad programs.

We have lost our system ini. file which makes the computer
start up in safe mode.

I have the problem that explorer keeps thowing out illegal
operations all the time.  when i start windows, when i try
to open my computer, recycle bin, my documents etc...
