I seem to be having a problem with directx.  I have
downloaded the redistributable file and installed, but
none of my games have sound.  Winamp, WMP, etc. all work.  
All sounds outside of full screen games work perfectly.

I keep getting the following OE mesages on my PC what do
they mean and how can I fix my PC to restore it to proper
working order;

A friend of mine running windows 98 says that she has
lost her system tray and that both systray.exe and
explorer.exe are no longer listed in the running tasks
box.  Does she have any options short of reinstalling the

Did a fresh re-install of Win98SE. Installed necessary
drivers, utilities, internet applications at the same
time while downloading security updates from
WindowsUpdate.

I discovered today that there have been no automatic registry backups
for about one year. In scanreg.ini, Backup=1 and BackupCopies=5.
What could be wrong?

My colors and display changed themselves, I reinstalled
windows hoping to fix problem but nope,  Looking at all
these dots is making me sick,  help please.  ps I have no
idea what the heck a video card is, so if that is the

I have Win '98...am no longer able to play DVD's.  It was
there when I had Win '95...is there a download?   Or do I
need to buy something?   I'm pretty computer "dumb" so,  I

Foolishly I deleted the above file and my Windows 98se disk
has been lost in a house move.
On start up the system tries to find this file.
Shut down also causes a problem which is usually because

I run SETI@home on a Dell machine running WindowsME.  I'd like to be able
to set my machine to scandisk and defrag during the night while I'm away
from the computer.  I've been using ScanDefrag, which shut down my non-
essential programs, ran the tools, then restarted the computer ...

have SIS video card on windows 98 OS second edition, and
for some reason i can't switch my display settings to 16-
