If Adware finds a bad file that it cannot delete, I know in 98SE that I can
restart my computer in safe mode if access is denied to removing the
infected file due to safeguards put in the file by malware writers.  What is
the alternative if this same file written towards XP gets on ...

in the win2k disc and installed win2k from there...well

Have 98 2nd edition update.  Created a start up disc over
8 months ago when installed.  Computer will not start on
its own and I have to open with safe mode.  
How can I use the floppy that was created to get a normal

In C:\Windows\Inf  folder are files with extension .pnf  Are those files
necessary, or can they be deleted?

The Windows98 Explorer shows bad disk capacity using the properties/general feature window. In fact with fdisk command, information: i have partition c: 2047 Mbytes FAT32 pri dos type, and a d: 4095 Mbytes FAT32 ext dos. The Explorer shows me  c: 5.98GB disk capacity and d: 3 ...

Windows 98 SE. With 2 users (profiles), no logon passwords.
On booting-up we get the logon window, and have to validate it
(carriage-return or click!). Else the logon window will stay waiting
