If Adware finds a bad file that it cannot delete, I know in 98SE that I can
restart my computer in safe mode if access is denied to removing the
infected file due to safeguards put in the file by malware writers.  What is
the alternative if this same file written towards XP gets on ...

If anyone knows, please tell me how I can edit which
programs are started when the computer is turned on.

Are a file's attributes recorded as part of the information contained in the
file itself, or are a file's attrubutes simply recorded in the operating
