My disk defragmentor will start but it shows 1% completed
and then goes back to 0% constantly. Sometimes a 2% or 3%
will show but it then goes back to 0%. It used to finish
in a short amount of time because I would run the

I am having a problem similar to that described in the
previous post, "Fatal Exception error 0028:".
When I start my computer I receive a message on a blue

I am getting this error on a Windows 98SE PC. P3, 500MHz,
512MB Ram.  On any restart we get error message:
A fatal exception 0E has occured at 0028: CIA088AE in VXD
CDRALVSD(01) + 0000202E.

I have Win98SE. No windows add-ons except for Windows and
IE6 updates and patches. Been noticing a little pause when
opening files and a few second pause with hourglass when

I have lost the software and need to restore it.
This is the software for my computer to communicate and
operate the CD Rom.  It was lost because it was left open
when removing and old DVD players.

Each time I shut down my system I am getting an error pop
up. "WIN95 RPC Wmsg Window" that explains that the
computor is not responding to my request and requires me
to "end task" to close the system down. Any Ideas how I

the folder window in windows explorer is not visible and
there is no way to make it visible again. If I click on
view / explorer / folder (I don't know if the names are
correct, as I only use a german win98) nothing happens. But

I downloaded a video that comes in two parts but I can't play the second
part I get the following message:

The last thing I remember doing was loading a cumulative
patch for IE 6, SP 1.  When the download/install was
nearly complete, I checked IE 6 and saw that I already
had this patch.  I figured I'd let it complete and just
"COMPUTER DID NOT SHUTDOWN" MESSAGE ON EVERY START UP (WIN 98)22 Jul 2004 15:15 GMT4
Even when I've shut the PC down properly, the next day I receive the "Windows did not shutdown" message, at which point the PC initiates a full scandisk.
The "fast shutdown" is disabled in the advanced options.
What can I do to resolve this?

I have a problem with my pc's virtual memory.  When I try
and use programs eg: MS Word, it just does not open saying
there's not enough memory.  Another eg: I try editing a
