I'm wondering what the compression agent on Windows 98 is
for - if I compressed my drive will I get more free
memory?  I'm new to this - hope it's not a stupid question.

Bill Starbuck and Brian A.  got me straightened out on "manual line
endings."  But there's another punctuation I don't recognize also.  It looks
like a degree sign -- a little circle up in the area of a superscript.  The
way it's used would suggest that it's a type of "space" or ...

I have a 750 MHz AMD, 256 MB RAM home constructed 'clone'.
It takes about 1-2 minutes before it shuts down when
commanded to do so via START|shutdown.
My son has a 1.2 GHz AMD 'clone' with 512 MB RAM and it

tried to use the installed bakcup but I keep getting the

Wen i try to start windwos 98 i get a box that comes up.

my mouse pointer points to the wrong place!  Any suggestions.  I've
ried changing to another pointer but that does not help.   I'm dead in

i had my hard drive replaced with a new one, with windows
98 installed.....since then i can't leave the computer for
more than 2 minutes and it locks up, and i need to
reboot...i have used virus scan and ad-ware scan and that
