What do you do when Windows does not finish starting up? I
have dos stating it is starting windows but that's it. It
will not go any further then that. I am at a loss as to

I have a choice of Power Schemes to turn off monitor and hard disk after a
certain time which I can set through DisplayProperties/ScreenSaver/Settings
As I have a Home Network set-up, I wonder if turning-off the hard disk in
this fashion is equivalent to putting the computer on ...

ich weiss nicht mehr genau, wie ich es geschafft habe, auf jeden Fall
sind die Standard-Icons von Arbeitsplatz, Eigene Dateien und Papierkorb
verschwunden und es werden jetzt nur noch die Icons mit dem
Windows-Symbol angezeigt. Kann ich die Standard-Icons wiederherstellen?

This is a silly problem...but I love freecell.  It has

When I start windows 98 sometimes it shuts down by itself
and then of course the scandisk comes on, but after that
it goes to registry scan and restores to a previous
backup. I loose all my new files. I reinstall and during

solitaire, i get the message that SOL.EXE is not a win 32

I would like to put an instruction into a batch file to CLOSE a program that
is running (in Windows 98 (first edition)); what is the syntax. It will not
matter if the program icon remains in the system tray.
