I've got a major problem with opening OE. about half the
time it recognizes me and the other half does not. (I'm
the only user of the computer) Thought I had a security

For the last several months, I've had an annoying problem. Everytime I boot
up the computer, the internet connection window pops up. It takes at least
15-20 attempts to cancel before it finally goes away.
For the last several weeks, the connect window has been popping up when I

the hardware conflict troubleshooter does not work from
the help menu or the device manager anymore. i'm having
major probs, drivers, IDE to bus memory hang ups, freezes

While shutting down my win98se computer it doesnt show "its
now safe to turn off ur computer". I have checked with the
logos.sys file its intact and it has a clear image of the
message. Can anyone tell me why.

I am puzzled by programs which start when Windows starts but are not included in
the StartUp folder or the start up part of the MSCONFIG FILE. Where are their
start up instructions filed? I have another file which starts correctly if its
shortcut is clicked but if the same shortcut ...

Recently I have found that the icons no longer show up in
alphabetical order. I right click in folder and reset them
for "name" but when I close window and reopen the order
has changed. I noticed a fix for this with XP but I am

One windows 98 installed DSClient but is still not working when logon to the
domain. It replies :
"The domain controller you try to login is unavaiable, please contact
administrator."

When I try to use an email atatchment needing Media Player
I get the error message # 80040154  Class not registered.
What is the remedy? I ain't very good at this!!!

When I try to tell windows to goto Hibernate, a little
window pops up that says something like "Preparing for
Stand-by" and then the computer goes into stand-by.
I did a search on this newsgroup, and i know that others

using cd-rw's I can burn archive or read only files using Roxio
DirectCD, but not to cd-r's.
using cdr's, I either have to change all the files' attributes or
zip all files.

my new one.  However, I need windows 98 second edition to
do this and was told that I can upgrade directly from

I need to use "tree" command  and "help" but not in
c:/windows/command/  ?? can I copy it to there from a
floppy and if I do will it work ok or make a mess??
