My computer has started locking up after sitting idle for
a period of time (sometimes as short as 30 min.)  I have
to turn the power off.  While it is booting up after I
turn the power back on it goes to a surface scan for Drive

When I click on the control panel in windows 98 and then
try to click ANY of the icons present here, I get the
following error,"Access to the specified device, path, or
file is denied".  I cannot change my monitor resolution or

I was troubleshooting a computer today that had a message
appear when trying to install anti-virus software.  This
is a home computer (windows 98 SE) and is not on a

this message keeps coming up as i am browsing the
internet. Can anyone help? I have read that Anitvirus
software can cause this. I also deleted the pwl files

versions of Windows such as 98SE), if it's still available.  I'm still
using a 98SE box since most of the hardware in it is not XP compatible.  I
heard about the update CD and like to get it in case I need to ...

Is there a license issue when upgrading from win 98 to
win 98 SE? I have win 98 license for all my pc's and need
to upgrade to win 98 SE.

I have an HP Pavilion6830 pc that I had to reformat the
drive.  Because of that I could not install the original
Windows ME on it so I put Win98se.  Now my video options
are 2 or 16 color with a 640x480 resolution.  The video

I have downloaded the chikka sms freeware before and I
have been using it for quite some time. I hasn't had any
problems when I run it, but suddenly when I opened the
