I keep getting the message "Internet Explorer could not be
repaired version 3.0.8168.0 of fille ATL.DLL exists but
the version needs to be greater than 3.0.8449.0.  Vesrion
8.07820.0 of file  MSXML3A.DLL exists but the vesion needs

For a while I have to use my computer in a room that gets
pretty dusty. Is there anything I can to to prevent lots
of dust from getting inside my mini-tower?

I installed 98 back on to an old computer after having
some problems with the previous installation.  When I
installed it the default setting usually calls for a
logon to appear when you start windows.  This is usually

When I start up my computer, after I connect to my
network, Windows appears and gets almost completely setup

upgrading (640x480 pixels is the only option i have now)

I am needing to do repairs, and my systems wants me to
reinstall Windows 98. I am a graphic artist and I have
tons of information, programs, images, etc. that I dont
want to lose. Other than floppys, I have no way to back up

The System Clock in the lower right hand corner of my
Windows 98 taskbar always displayed the date with the day
of the week, like "Sunday August 15 2004".
Now, for some reason, it just displays, "August 15 2004".

I want to install a 40 gig hard drive as a back up,the
device manager shows that the drive is there but will not
allow me to set a drive letter, and My Computer does not
show the drive. How do I get this set up????

I just added a new harddrive to my existing computer as
the slave drive, but can not get the system to load
programs on the drive though the system recognizes the
drive itself. Do I need to put any part of Windows on the

I was asked to help someone who whenever they tried to use wordpad got an
error message and the program was shut down due to "illegal operation".
This started recently for no particular reason. Is this something to worry
about? I noticed that there is no wordpad on my 98 system so ...

Scan disk somehow renamed a bunch of long file names it didn't like (mostly mp3s - wiping out the
mp3 tags that ID the songs).  It renamed them FILE**.CHK.
My question is - is there any way to retrieve the original file names ??  Scandisk.log doesn't even
show that this happened.

Am trying to install Norton I.S. 2004 as an upgrade to my
existing Norton software.  The install fails due to some
Windows program running in the background (it is not
visible) which has exclusive access to something Norton
