i have a number of entres in the startup section. i have
unchecked a number of these entres because the programs
that they started have been removed. Many are unwanted
programs that were installed on my system by adware,etc.
hard drive defrags to 37% & stops30 Sep 2004 12:29 GMT1
I start by Going to msconfig and deselect all selections
and restart my pc (windows 98).  Defrag gets to 37% and
stops defragging, pc does not lock up just stops.
Resource meter indicates more than 95%.

I Mis-placed the Keycode sticker the came with my Win98
second edition cd. I need to format a drive and re-
install. Is there any way to get this # from the
installed software?

Now I have just rebuilt my hard drive and cannot load Plus.
I miss it!

I am experiencing a new problem after putting a
DSL/broadband on my computer.
When I turn on my computer I get a message.
"Can not find a device file that may be needed to run

i just wanted to reinstall an old AT PC with Win 98 and ran into a strange
resource problem:
After installing the hard disks and a CD burner, the PCI graphics card, an

Im having an strange problem with my Windows 98 SE system.

start up I keep getting an error message which says "a

Hello group. I have an old 2nd computer that received a worm/virus. I was

   I bought this computer used and it has so much stuff
in it that it is affecting it's preformance and space.  In
some of the files you open all you get are a bunch of
symbols, some say that they have to be "opened with", but
