I had posted the following, problem with Windows Updates
now not downloading Framework 1.1 SP1 and Framework 1.o
Pack 3, English Version.
The response I get EACH time is:  NO Updates Were Installed

So, even though my cable modem and connection is just
fine, my computer is not detecting an Internet Connection.
When I open Internet Explorer, in the bottom left corner
of the IE window where it would normally say "connecting

I have just installed Windows 98 (First Edition) on a Pentium 166 machine
for my daughter to use. Everything works fine but when booting the machine

when I restart my computer the desktop icons often move or

defrag the hard drive and after numerous attempts, an
error message says some other program is trying to write
to the hard drive-discontinue the program. I disconnect

How can I back up my current c:\windows\History folder?
I tried just copying it -- that is, burning a copy to a CD and I don't
think it worked.  The burner reported error in opening index.dat file.
Looking at the copy on the CD, all the history entries were converted

if I upgrade the card will it effect both OS's? I went to the web page of the
drivers and they mention various d/l for each OS, ...

My friend has Windows 98 first edition.  He downloaded the newest versions
of MSN Messenger (Windows Messenger) and can no longer have voice chat or
transfer files with me. I have Windows XP.  How can I remove all remnants of
Messenger from his system and try installing an older ...

Ever since I installed the Kodak software for my Digital Camera, My "Open
With" has become "Open With Kodak Easy Share" as the only choice to open
pictures, etc. with.  Does anyone know what I need to do to release my "Open

Running Windows 98 Second Edition on IBM ThinkPad.
A pop-up alert indicated system was having trouble going
into stand-by mode and promted if I wanted to go into
standy-by in the future.  I clicked no and now from my
