A couple of times in recent weeks I've had the icons (in
folder windows) for a particular file type spontaneously
change to a different icon.  In both cases the affected
icon was for .txt files.  The first time I'm not sure what

For some reason or another I have lost my "Start" button.
I do not have it on autohide. I have moved the mouse to
all side of the screen to see if it has moved. I have
pressed the "Windows" key and still no "Start" button. Any

I was here yesterday with this problem & was told to go to
the control panel, display & change my screen size.  This
didn't correct the problem.  Then I was told to use the
buttons on the monitor.  That didn't do it either.  The

In the late days I can?t access my desktop. When the desktop about to
load its applications it launched 2 error messages even though i
didn?t make a single click  :
1. A fatal exception OD has occured at 0028:C000B28A in VXD VMM(01) +

Each time I launch Windows 98SE, a folder (C:\Program)
automatically opens on my desktop.  I checked all start up
resources and cannot find anything that could cause this
folder to open.

Is there a solution to open "all next opened" folders in detailed view?
Sometimes it opens as "details" and next ones as "large icons".
It goes for My Computer as well.

Each time I launch Windows 98SE, a folder (C:\Program)
automatically opens on my desktop.  I checked all start up
resources and cannot find anything that could cause this
folder to open.

  When i go to windows help-troubleshoot,I checkmark the
problem but the solutions are missing. I just get a blank
page.Can anyone tell me how to get the solutions back ?

When shutting down my laptop it hangs on the screen where
it says windows is shutting down and won't go any further.

I'm having a problem with a customer's machine. It's running Win98SE /
IE5.5. Initially the machine hung as soon as the desktop appeared and would
go no further. Booting into safe mode and disabling all none-essential items
in msconfig allowed the machine to start Windows, but ...

When I click on the Add/Remove Programs icon nothing
happens.  When I right click My Computer and select
Properties nothing happens either.  Anyone out there

Somehow I have managed to split the monitor screen into
two areas.  On the left of the screen the taskbar is
displayed in a vertical display with the START button at
the top left.  On the right side of the screen are the
