When I turn on my PC it freezes at the Windows 98 screen.  Ive tried to go
into safe mode also but the screen just goes black. I recently moved house so

Trying to achieve sound...which I had prior to formatting H/D and clean
install of Win98SE.
Tried various drivers for the sound card (Opti16 audio).
No sounds either via control panel/Sounds route.

On my Win 98-SE, I can no longer boot into graphical mode, only Command
Prompt and not Safe Mode either. After "Starting Windows 98" appears, I get
error message:

Does anyone now how to disable the password function in

I have the same problem as Crystal. (see copy of email
below) Also, now everything is huge and wider than the

Since I need to use IE/Outlook Express in the day time several times and

Works fine for what my daughter requires for a 2nd pc, but an annoying error
shows up on the dos start screen as follows:
fatal exception28 Sep 2004 02:30 GMT1
I get this  fatal exception OE has occured at 0028:
(00063A5 in VXD umm(01) + 000053A5   the current
application will be terminated. This happens at shut
down. What is this and how do I fix it? Any help would be
