When I try and access msconfig or regedit, the box appears and disappears. I've read where I should start the computer in the Safe Mode by using the F8 key and running my Virus Checker. Except that doesn't work either. Any other ways to get Safe Mode up?

my computer wants to keep starting in MS-DOS mode, and I can't seem to get it to go into Safe mode or do a regular startup. Please help

I installed a Western Digital 80GB second hard drive in an HP Pavilion 6630 running Win 98SE. I manually entered it into the Bios as a primary slave drive (my CD is the secondary primary drive), and the information has survived numerous reboots.

My Windows 98 Troubleshooters are not working, when I select a radio button then <next>, nothing happens, righthand side of window just goes blank. Any ideas on how to retore (presumably) missing files - other Help files seem OK.

Hi all. In my Windows TEMP folder, I have all these folders called istmp15.dir, where (15) can be any number. Also, folders called pft61A4~TMP, or pft8384~TMP, or pft82E0!TMP, Just to name a few. My question is, can this stuff be deleted. I'm trying to clean up my hard drive. ...

We have a system that the HD association isn't right on. If we double click on it then it comes up and asks what we want to open it with. However, if we right click on it and select open then the directory structure is displayed. Anyone know how to correct this problem?

Recently had to reinstall my system - Formated my drives - reinstalled win98se and downloaded all the patchs, updates etc - No new hardware installed.

Have just received & deleted two fairly authenic looking emails supposedly from Microsoft but actually emails containing trojans/viruses - and detected by my anti-virus software (www.Vet.com.au). Both had attachments.

I have recently had an almighty crash on my desk computer (Windows 98se) I have lost most of my drivers but managed to reload some. I can't access the internet or use sound, niether can I load any programs, so my MGI photosuite files are now listed as Paint files and Word docs ...

I have finally removed my old CD drive, and left the (newer) DVD/CD drive in as the complete replacement (since there is no point in having the old CD one too). Except that - now I can't access the newer DVD/CD drive in DOS.
