Some of the Win98SE machines I use show the CD drive;others don't.Why
is that?How can you make a machine support the CD drive in Safe Mode?
None of the machines will connect to the LAN in Safe Mode.How can you
configure them to access the network?Choosing "start in Safe Mode with

I have an HP Pavillon 4450 which came with W98 and a 6GB HD.  Over the
years, I upgraded to ME then to XP and upgraded my CD to a CD/DVD drive and
added a 60 GB HD.  Everything worked fine until last week when we had a
power failure (I leave the computer on all the time).

i want to go directly to my active desktop upon powering up my
computerinstead of waiting 1-2 minutes for the windows 98 display to finally
let me to my desktop.

When trying to print, I get incompatible RPC stub and it refers to dispx.dll
(that may be incorrect, I've lost the note) BUT I have tried the knowledge
base fixes and nothing seems to correct the problem.  HELP, please!!

In Control Panel, there is no folder for System or for Modem. The equivalent
*.cpl files do not respond when double clicked.
My Computer icon, right click, Properties -> no properties are displayed.

I have a Gateway PC and when it is starting up it seems to freeze when the
Gateway logo come on the monitor. The only way out is ctrl alt del. It make 2

I have a Gateway desktop and there are times when I start the computer that
when it gets to the Gateway name the computer just freezes and I have to do a
alt ctl delete to get out of it....this may happen 2 or 3 times b-4 it will
