What is the difference?  Why is SE compatable with a
number of different portable MP3 players while I haven't
found one that says it's compatible with Win 98?

We can use kill.exe (Windows 2000) or tskill.exe (Windows
XP) to kill/stop running process.
My question is how to I do the samething on Windows 98 or
Windows ME?

After exiting my CD /dvd drive, placed a backup CD in drive ...explorer
stopped responding and on pressing ctrl+alt+del I received following blue

Running 98SE.  
3 Things happen:
First I get a notice that says "NAV Auto-protect can't

When clicking on Earthlink Total Access Mailbox an error
mwessage appears which reads:
   "Specified driver could not be loaded due to system
error 31(MS Access Driver .mdb)"

Whenever I click on Start/Shutdown/Shutdown my computer
restarts. So I have to power off using the physical buton.

I don't know how, but something deleted my shelliconcache file from
the Windows folder (I'm guessing some spyware removal tool).  I have
the Max Cached Icons set to 4096 in the registry
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer)

Everytime i shoose "shutdown" in the "start" menu, my
computer get restarted.

On 2 different Win 98 machines, using both Word Perfect 12
and a business-oriented program, from time to time the
screen font goes down to size 2 and all of my fonts are
missing from the pull-down menu.  This is on both screen

Please help.  I downloaded DX9 from WU, and it showed to install, but dxdiag
shows DX8.  When I go back to WU, it shows DX9 as a needed update.  So, I do
it again, but it won't "take."  I've tried several times, with the same
result each time.

When I try to access the help menu from the start menu I
get Cannot open the file %systemroot%\help\windows.chm  
What is causing this and how can I fix it?
